HID Conversion Ballast
The ballast is an extremely necessary part of any HID Conversion Kit. These units allow for the 12 volt output from your vehicles battery to be converted to a high voltage, high current output. The higher output from a ballast, similar to a transformer is necessary to create the brilliant light output associated with HID lighting. In some cases when a ballast is faulty the light will not turn on. They can also make noises associated with a burnout process. This noise is high pitched and sounds like a transformer, almost like a hiss or a constant squeal. Many aftermarket HID parts are interchangeable, but to ensure you get the correct one please give us a call.
